MSD (“Company”) encourages its employees, collaborators, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders (“Reporting Persons”) to report, in good faith, any conduct of which they have become aware that may be unethical, illegal, or otherwise inconsistent with MSD’s Code of Conduct, its policies or procedures (“Potential Misconduct”). 

How can a Potential Misconduct be reported to MSD or one of its subsidiaries?

A Potential Misconduct can be reported through either global or local reporting channels established by MSD and its subsidiaries.

Reporting Persons can report a Potential Misconduct using MSD’s global Speak Up tool at msdethics.com. This platform is operated by a third-party service provider and available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and it allows Reporting Persons to report concerns confidentially via phone or internet. Concerns reported through the global Speak Up tool at msdethics.com will be assessed by MSD Office of Ethics to determine whether they warrant investigation by a global or a locally based investigator.

Alternatively, Reporting Persons can report a Potential Misconduct directly to a local subsidiary. In Hungary, a Potential Misconduct can be reported through a local reporting channel by:

As a primary option:

  • sending an email to Human Resources Lead, Anita Schelcz to anita.schelcz@merck.com; or
  • calling HR Business Partner, Anita Bela at +420 (775) 881276; or
  • report the concern by means of a physical meeting with HR Business Partner, Anita Bela.

In addition, the Reporting Persons may always request a face-to-face meeting through each of these local reporting channels if they wish to make the report in person.

In all cases in which a Potential Misconduct is reported locally, the identity of the Reporting Persons, the subject of a report, any other person mentioned in the report, and the content of the report will be treated confidentially, as required by local law and in accordance with the Company’s Privacy Policy available here [https://msd.hu/wp-content/uploads/sites/58/2023/12/2_EN_Hungary_WB-Privacy-Notice_4Dec2023.pdf].

In accordance with local legislation, reports may be made in the internal reporting systems:

  • by any employee;
  • by an employee whose employment relationship with the Company has been terminated;any person wishing to establish an employment relationship with the Company;
  • by the Company’s volunteers and trainees;
  • by a private entrepreneur if engaged under contract with the Company;
  • by any person belonging to the administrative, management or supervisory body of the Company;
  • by any persons working under the supervision of such contractors, subcontractors or suppliers who has a contractual relationship with the Company or if the procedure for entering into a contract with the Company is pending;
  • by any person wishing to establish a contractual relationship with the Company and the process is pending;
  • by any person whose contractual relationship with the Company has ended.

How can a Potential Misconduct be reported externally?

Reporting Persons also may report Potential Misconducts directly to the Hungarian authorities or to the European Union institutions, bodies, offices or agencies having powers and responsibilities in the subject related to the complaint.
